December will Begin with the Annual Adler Fellows Gala Concert

For those who felt that the first Sunday in December would be entirely about Christmas, San Francisco Opera (SFO) has announced a significant alternative. The month will begin with the annual concert that celebrates the conclusion of the current Adler Fellowship season. Named for former SFO General Director Kurt Herbert Adler, the Adler Fellowship Program is a multi-year performance-oriented residency during which young artists of the highest caliber received intensive individual training, coaching, professional seminars, and a wide range of performance opportunities that include participation in SFO season offerings.

The annual concert, entitled The Future is Now, will feature both those about to conclude their respective Fellowships (Julie Adams, Zanda Švēde, Nian Wang, Edward Nelson and Matthew Stump) and those who will continue as 2017 Adler Fellows (Amina Edris, Toni Marie Palmertree, Pene Pati, Brad Walker, Anthony Reed, Ronny Michael Greenberg and Jennifer Szeto). They will be joined by the SFO Orchestra led by Resident Conductor Jordi Bernàcer. The program (which is subject to change) has been designed to highlight the respective talents of all of these Fellows through an impressively diverse repertoire. The program as currently planned (which includes an orchestral introduction) is as follows:
